FROM THE 2017 ILDA AWARD ENTRY GUIDE:

Submit a photo with laser beams/graphics as the dominant element. The photo must be of a single “click” of the camera. You can make a short exposure, or a long time-exposure, but it must be of one shutter press or “click”. Multiple exposures are not permitted.

The photo may have darkroom-type improvements in Photoshop, such as cropping, curves (brightening, darkening), dodging, burning, saturation adjustments, sharpening, and dust and spot removal.

However, photo manipulation such as adding or removing elements is not permitted. This also means there must be no added logos, text overlays, copyright notices or other material added to the photo after it was taken.

You can vote for up to three entries - one entry for First Place, one entry for Second Place, and one entry for Third Place.

• All entries must be different. For example, you cannot choose a single entry both for First Place and also for Second Place.
• You can vote for just one entry (only for First Place), or for just two entries (for First and Second Place) if you want.

Entries will receive 3 points for a First Place vote, 2 points for a Second Place vote, and 1 point for a Third Place vote.

• There is no “weighting” based on ILDA Membership categories. This is NOT like the voting for the Board of Directors and for ILDA policy issues, where different categories of Membership have different numbers of votes.
• Instead, for the ILDA Awards Laser Photography voting, each Member has the same vote as every other Member. This is to prevent larger companies from casting more votes for their own entries than smaller companies could.
• We will check to ensure that votes are valid, from current (2017) ILDA Members.

The entry with the most votes will receive First Place; the entry with second-most votes will receive Second Place, and the entry with third-most votes will receive Third Place.

In the event of a tie, there will be a runoff vote conducted similar to the main vote, except only between the tied entries.

The winners will be privately notified after voting is concluded and the votes are tallied. The winners will NOT be publicly identified until the ILDA Awards Banquet, held 8 November 2017 in Bratislava.
