2020 ILDA Conference has moved to the Cloud

Before the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 ILDA Conference had been scheduled for November 9-10 at the Executive Banquet and Conference Center (EBCC) in Newark, Delaware. The host was to have been ILDA Board member Brad Billet, who manages the facility.

At their July teleconference, the ILDA Board of Directors voted to move from an in-person meeting, to an online virtual meeting.

2020 ILDA Conference in Newark, Delaware

The 2020 ILDA Conference is currently scheduled for the Executive Banquet and Conference Center (EBCC) in Newark, Delaware. The host is ILDA Board member Brad Billet, who manages the facility.

Note: The date and meeting are subject to change due to coronavirus restrictions. This is why we do not yet have registration information available on this webpage. ILDA will inform Members as soon as we have firm plans to hold (or not hold) the 2020 Conference in Delaware.

Newark, Delaware is 35 minutes from Philadelphia International Airport, and about 50 minutes from the Philadelphia city center. (Note that this is NOT the much larger city of Newark, New Jersey which is close to New York City. Newark, Delaware is a small town, home of the University of Delaware.)

ILDA chose this in part because we can get maximum flexibility from the EBCC and local hotel. If plans change or are cancelled, you will know in time to get refunds on the hotel and the ILDA registration.

Here is the schedule as of April 1, 2020:
     • Sat, Nov 7: ILDA Laser Operator Class, ILDA Advanced Audience Scanning Class (both optional extras).
     • Sun, Nov 8: ILDA LSO course (optional) and user group meetings. Luncheon meeting for ILDA Board. The first official ILDA Full Conference event is the Welcome Dinner held at the EBCC.
     • Mon, Nov 9: ILDA General Business Meeting and Advanced Technology Workshop. In the evening, the Lase-Off & Laser Jockey competition.
     • Tue, Nov 10: Seminars on the ILDA Digital Network, Awards and Art. In the afternoon is a private screening of the 2019 documentary on Laserium®. If you missed it last year, this may be your only chance to see it, as it is not publicly available at this time.
     • Wed, Nov 11: Cultural Tour via bus to Philadelphia. Highlights include Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the Franklin Institute Science Museum. Breakfast meeting for ILDA Board

The Conference hotel is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Newark Wilmington South. It is an 8 minute drive from the EBCC where most Conference events will be held.

For those without rental cars, shuttle busses will be provided in the morning and evening. At this early date, we do not have hotel discount codes, so do not make a hotel reservation yet.

We have not yet set pricing for ILDA Conference registration. We will notify Members via email, and update this page, when this is ready. As stated above, we will ensure that if the conference is changed or cancelled, that hotel and ILDA registration will be refunded.

One more showing of a feature-length film about Laserium®

On Tuesday Nov. 10, the 90-minute documentary "Laserium, the Gods of Light" will have a private showing for attendees. We premiered this at the 2019 Conference; a number of attendees who lived through the events were very moved to see this slice of their lives. Thanks to producer/director Bjorn Schaller for making this available.
